James Cully, Michael Quin, Thomas Quin and Thomas Markin, 4 Irishmen, guilty of the murder of William Marriott, a farm overlooker at Wisbech Fen with whom they lodged, on 3rd July 1795, striking and beating him, his wife and a fellow lodger with an hatchet and a pitchfork; robbing the house of everything of value and leaving the three for dead.  Mrs Marriott was able to speak the following day and told what had occurred.  Mr Marriott died on 18th July.  (Cambridge Chronicle Sat 11th and 25th July).  After they had been hanged the bodies of James Cully and Michael Quin were fitted with chains and hanged on a gibbet near to where the murder had taken place.  The bodies of the other two were sent for dissection.
